Downtown Aurora Taste is Second Tuesday in May

The 13th Annual Downtown Aurora Taste will be hosted this year by the Exchange Club of Aurora, on Tuesday, May 12, 2015, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.  The event was developed by the former Aurora Study Circles organization, which ceased operation in the fall of 2007.  The Exchange Club of Aurora is now the eighth year host for this community fundraising activity.

Proceeds from Downtown Aurora Taste are allocated by the Exchange Club of Aurora, to benefit area youth, via scholarships and philanthropic contributions to local agencies that serve children.

Ticket booklets are available for $25 and will include four restaurant coupons, free rides on a trolley sponsored by Downtown Aurora (www.auroradowntown.org), a map showing the participating restaurants’ locations and a ticket that will be stamped at each restaurant visited, ensuring eligibility for a prize drawing.

For 2015, participating Aurora restaurants include: Ballydoyle Pub, Chef Amaury, Doughballs Pizza Palace, La France Bakery, La Quinta de Los Reyes, Paramount Theatre, River’s Edge Café, Reuland Food Service, Two Brothers Roundhouse and Tecalitlan.

Live entertainment will be featured as follows:  At La France Bakery: Treble Vocal Ensemble “Acora Imparo”, led by Meg Papadolias, 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.; at Ballydoyle, Dave Eno, professional smooth jazz guitarist, 5;30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and “The Swirls”,  husband and wife musical duo  Annie and Frank Craig, 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.;  at Chef Amaury, guitar/bass duo Chanson DuChat, featuring John Papadolias; at River’s Edge, Dave Byron, instrumental blues and Latin rock guitarist, 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.; at Paramount Theatre, Metea Valley High School String Quartet under the direction of Mark Liu.

Chartered in 1937, The Exchange Club is one of Aurora’s oldest service organizations.  It is composed of businessmen and women who are committed to a variety of community causes, among them the prevention of child abuse, the encouragement of patriotism and the provision of scholarships for youths who have overcome personal or physical challenges.  The Exchange Club of Aurora also holds the annual recognition tributes for Aurora police officers and firefighters, and one for those individuals who go above and beyond, in helping children at risk.

Anyone interested in learning more about the spirit of Exchange, is invited to join the group as a guest for one of its Tuesday luncheon meetings, held at noon at Provena Fox Knoll, 421 N. Lake St., Aurora.
