ROCKFORD, IL—Wes Anderson fans will have a chance to see some of their favorite characters from his films at Rockford Art Deli at this spring’s Art Scene.
Quirky, lovable characters like Max Fischer and Margot Tenenbaum come alive in artwork by featured artist Chris Evans.
Evans, of Aurora, takes the magical world of Wes Anderson and creates beautiful character portraits that evoke the very emotions you feel when watching the films. His drawings are both oddly different and perfectly exact representations of Anderson’s memorable characters.
Evans’ artwork, including his popular blind contours, were featured in two solo shows in 2014 at The Yetee Gallery in Aurora. His art has also been featured on magazine covers and in storefront windows.
Evans has a knack for capturing the essence of people, and he says that he likens this to stealing someone’s soul with his drawings. With Anderson’s films, Evans finds the appeal in the realness and the shortcomings of the characters.
Art Scene at Rockford Art Deli, 402 E. State St., is Friday, April 10 from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Saturday, April 11 from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. The full show will remain on display at Rockford Art Deli through June 18. RSVP on Facebook here.
