Want to Get Involved in Aurora’s Biggest Environmental Festival?
The sixth annual Aurora GreenFest will be held Saturday, June 13 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Prisco Community Center and McCullough Park at 150 W. Illinois Ave. in Aurora. This free, family event features a Community Trade Show and Children’s Eco-Village with over 100 exhibitors and 2,000 visitors from the Fox Valley Region.
Festival organizers are calling for exhibitors to share “Seeds of the Future” by bringing common sense, earth-friendly education and solutions into our community. Vendors, exhibitors, and sponsors can apply today at auroragreenfest.com.
This year, Aurora GreenFest invites local farms, local food producers, artisans, and naturalists to join the annual festival. Other attractions include renewable energy demos, green transportation, recycling opportunities, and healthy living activities.
“Aurora GreenFest is committed to making common sense solutions available for every home and business,” said festival founder Mavis Bates, of Aurora. Bates leads Aurora GreenLights, the group that organizes Aurora GreenFest.
Aurora GreenLights is dedicated to preparing the next generation for what lies ahead, Bates said. “This effort goes way beyond sustainability; we’re looking ahead to the future we want to create together for our community, and we are taking action today,” she said.
Bates added that by sharing knowledge and resources, our community will be equipped to build regional food security, and navigate climate change challenges. “We will conserve our natural resources as we transition to clean, renewable energy solutions and improve the quality of life for all,” she said.
