Modest Coffee Collaborates with Aurora Artist on New Roast
Teresa Fiehn is an Aurora artist whose coffee will debut at Alley Art Festival.
Teresa Fiehn is a local artist who is about to have her own coffee.
The Modest Coffee team is working with Fiehn, of Aurora, on a collaborative series called “The Artist.”
The idea behind the series is collaboration between artist and artisan.
“We ask our artist to create the artwork for the front label and we have that artwork turned into a vinyl sticker. We ask our featured artist for their preference in coffee and flavors and we search for a bean that we feel meets their profile, then we create a unique roast to suit their tastes. This gives our customers the ability to experience the artist’s taste in coffee and expression in art,” said lead roaster and owner Marcus Contaldo.
The first featured artist was Olivia Dyess, a Chicago based artist who multi-tasks in oils, acrylics, charcoal, pastels, metals, graphite, watercolors, and tattoos. Dyess’ coffee is a single origin coffee from Colombia and is roasted dark then cooled quickly to preserve the flavors of origin.
Fiehn’s coffee will debut at Alley Art Festival on Saturday, Aug. 27 in downtown Aurora.
Fiehn, a fiber artist, currently has her quilt work up at Emergent, a pop up gallery at 14 W. Downer Pl. She was part of the Alley Art Fest Show at If These Walls Could Talk in February. She is part of The ArtBar, a pop up at Two Brothers Roundhouse, and she will have a booth at Alley Art Festival.
The quantity offered for the artist series is limited to 150 bags and stickers, and is available for purchase on www.modest.coffee. Modest Coffee is seeking out more artists to collaborate on future releases of the series.
Modest Coffee is also working with The Yetee to open Public Access, a coffee shop with an arcade and art gallery, on the northwest corner of Stolp and Downer.
