New Vacant Window Project Combines Visual, Audio Elements for Unique Art Experience in Downtown Aurora
Alfredo Castil is an Aurora artist. Mandrills are primates of the Old World monkey family.
Once mistaken for baboons, mandrills are the world’s largest monkeys. Three of them are now hanging out at the northeast corner of Downer Place and Stolp Avenue in the old Silverplate building in downtown Aurora as part of the Vacant Window Project.
Castil recently painted the series after displaying the first of the three at the January ArtBar at Two Brothers Roundhouse. The series highlights the amazing vibrant colors of male mandrills. The series also coincides with digital music by The Brosephines found here.
When you walk by the bright display, make sure you link up to the audio to fully enjoy the visual and auditory experience.
Love these paintings! Had to stop and photograph them just the other day as I was walking by. A wonderful addition to our window art downtown.
